Claudio Moser – Art Unlimited 2014
- Art Unlimited | Messe Basel 10 Messeplatz Basel, BS, 4058 Switzerland (map)
Skopia participated in Art Unlimited in 2014, presenting “toi”, a large series by Claudio Moser.
“toi”, 2009-2013. 1 wallpaper, 350 × 535 cm; 12 framed photoetchings, 107 × 76 cm each, framed 110 × 79 cm each; edition of 3 + 2 AP.
The project’s French title is “toi” which means “you.”
The work is film-like and so is its reception, the reading of it both emotional and intellectual: a rhythmically visualized journey from image to image, through its spatial layers focused towards “you.”
When Phillipp Kaiser once asked Claudio Moser: “Do all your pictures describe non-places?”, he responded: “Yes. I wouldn’t want viewers to be reminded of their honeymoon. The non-place has the great advantage that I lose my orientation, that a void opens up. Sometimes I intrude into areas where no particular aesthetic prevails and no particular purpose is visible – areas that maybe have never been put to use, or have been abandoned and not yet redefined.” (From Nowhere Near Far Enough, Ostfildern, 2010)
